Vietnam national competency standards for midwifery: A Delphi study

Background: After nearly a decade, Vietnam’s basic midwifery competency standards need to be updated effectively implement midwives, enhance the quality of human resources meet requirements integration countries in region and around world. This study aims develop for Vietnam by using Delphi process. Methods: The draft standard was initially developed based on literature review. Midwives professionals working with midwives completed two-round survey evaluate relevance competence four-point Likert scale. criteria consensus under 80% were revised included second round. 75 participants first round 72 Phase 3 led Ministry Health finalize Vietnam. Results: research results indicated that mostly rated as quite relevant or higher (over 80%). Some removed, some final issued 4 areas (midwifery professional practice; care management; development), 11 44 criteria; along general skills midwifery. Conclusions: These are consistent perceptions International Confederation domestic context. education institutions, employers, policy makers themselves benefit from this standards. Future needs conducted validate clinical settings further responses.
